Digital Skills Gap
500+ Pupils Explore Their Tech Potential with AND Digital

BIMA Digital Day is an eagerly anticipated annual event where digital industry experts head back to the classroom, to inspire the future tech stars of tomorrow. This year, we had the pleasure of spending the day with students all over the UK, from Glasgow and Edinburgh down to Liverpool and London.
A recent Microsoft study* revealed that 82% of UK jobs require digital skills, and that 69% of leaders are feeling the lack of those skills in their business. As more industries grow to rely on digital technology for efficiency and customer experience, the gap continues to widen. On a positive note though, this is a gap that offers huge opportunities for the next generation of talent. But first, they need to know those opportunities exist.
That’s the reason for Digital Day.
Digital Day 2023
Run by BIMA, the digital industry trade body, it’s a day when professionals from across the UK’s digital and technology industries head back to school to help young people understand what a digital career could look like for them.
This year, AND Digital spent the day guiding and mentoring over 500 students, as they worked to develop digital solutions to a real world challenge set by VUE Cinemas. Team results will be entered into a nationwide competition, with a chance to win £500 cash for the school and some fantastic prizes for students.
Rachel Johnson at AND Digital said:
“We love Digital Day. It’s great to see the pupils get so much out of it. It’s also great to dispel a few myths. A digital career isn’t just about coding. It’s design, strategy, project management, writing, graphics, leadership, data analysis, animation and much more. It’s a career for anyone and everyone and by the end of the day, I hope we’ll have inspired a few more people to explore what it could offer them.”
