Principal Consultant - People

At AND, we accelerate the development of digital capabilities. In practice, that means helping ambitious leaders and organisations build the teams, products, processes and even operational structures they need to close the digital skills gap within their organisation today, so that they thrive tomorrow.

Clients rely on our experience, agility and craft skills across tech and business strategy, software development and product management to address some of the toughest challenges facing their businesses.

We bring aboard thinkers, tinkerers, passionate software craftspeople and inspiring technologists to help us solve these challenges. Together, we’re united by a sense of pragmatism, purpose and a deeply-held belief that digital products and technology alone won’t transform a business or save the world: it’s the people that count.

This role can be done in any of our clubs across Leeds, Manchester and Halifax.

As a Managing/Principal Consultant, you’ll join the People part of our Consulting proposition, which aims to enable our clients to build better organisations to more effectively deliver their purpose. You’ll work with clients to accelerate their digital journey by helping them to identify and attract the right people; organise how those people work most effectively together; and to retain and develop their people over time. As a result, you will need to be able to:

  • Lead client engagements, overseeing and delivering all aspects required within an engagement, from assessing a client’s current state, to working with them to deliver on their digital ambitions.

  • Design new digital ways of working, including how digital operates alongside other business functions, and how those other functions can increase their own digital capabilities.

  • Build compelling commercial cases to help our clients make the required changes.

  • Transition the organisation to new digital ways of working, through effective planning, communications and change management.

  • Work with senior executives, both inside and outside of IT / Technology / Digital, to understand digital and Agile ways of working and also the need for change.

  • Get ‘hands on’ with the work, beyond leading and directing, and produce the required outputs and outcomes.

  • Help grow the People Consulting practice as part of the AND Consulting team.

  • Apply a commercial mindset throughout an engagement and own (or support) account development plans.

  • Be responsible for identifying and developing further opportunities for AND Digital to support our clients, in order for them to be successful.

This role can be done in any of our clubs across Leeds, Manchester and Halifax.

  • Breadth of consulting, professional services, or digital transformation experience, delivering substantive and meaningful change within a range of organisations.

  • Excellent understanding of effective modern, digital organisations and what makes them different from what has gone before. As well as how to effect impactful change within an organisation.

  • Good knowledge of digital delivery - particularly the Product, Technology and People implications, backed up with your own insights and points of view.

  • Ability to persuade and influence stakeholders with a recommended digital transformation approach.

  • Comfortability in moving between various client assignments throughout your career within the AND Consulting team.

  • Passion for delivering the required change for our clients in often complex, ambiguous circumstances.

  • A breadth and depth of consulting expertise, including business development, gained at a recognised Consulting firm.

  • An open mind and a willingness to develop new skills.

  • An entrepreneurial flair and a willingness to take calculated risks.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Relationship building skills – the ability to develop and maintain peer relationships with client management level executives.

  • Strategic thinking – able to shape and solve problems using a fact-based approach to drive out insights that make the difference for AND Digital clients.

  • A passion to learn and to develop – the desire to continue developing and to share expertise with those around you are essential.

From the work we deliver, to the way we serve and support our people, we work hard to ensure that there’s nowhere quite like AND. But joining a company is a two-way street: the fit has to work on both sides. So before you apply, here’s three key things to understand about us:

  • We’re built for people - like, real humans. Not ‘resources’ or ‘staff’. That means happiness and wellbeing really do matter to us, and we hate unnecessary hierarchy and bureaucracy.

  • There’s no well-trodden path ahead: AND is growing fast and forging a new trail. That’s exciting, and gives us all the autonomy and opportunity we love - but bear in mind it also demands focus, patience and resilience.

  • Diversity is a priority. After all, to build great products that a wide variety of different people love to use, we need a wide variety of people to help us build them. So diversity is more than a policy or a word: it’s business critical for us.
