Lead Researcher

Location: Manchester

You will join the AND UX team to help represent and research the customers of our many clients, throughout the product design process. Your role will be to uncover what customers wants and needs are from the products and services we build, by undertaking research, exploring consumer behaviour and motivation and working closely with the UX/UI design team and squads across the business.

As UX Researcher, you will be conducting usability research and testing, creating personas, audits, accessibility understandings and recommendations and presenting your findings to the team and stakeholders.

This is a hands on and practical role, but as a lead you will be expected to assist with the planning and management of projects, including the mentoring and guidance of more junior team members.

What will you be doing as our Lead Researcher;

  • Planning and delivery of customer research at every stage of the product’s lifecycle
  • Ensure that the customer’s needs and wants are understood and considered throughout the product development process
  • Facilitate workshops – bringing the team together to focus on the customer
  • Document and present research findings and recommendations with stakeholders throughout the business, ensuring they are clear and to the point.
  • Work with designers, developers, product owners and relevant teams to further enhance the user journey.
  • Design quantitative and qualitative research approaches
  • Partake and employ end-user research and testing
  • Build relationships with usability research agencies and participant’s suppliers
  • Define the AND UX research strategy and toolkit and how it all fits in with the continuously evolving product development lifecycle
  • Be prepared to attend research related MeetUps to grow a great community in and around the North.

The experience we are looking for;

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in UX research, statistical analysis, qualitative / quantitative analysis
  • Ability to identify key recommendations inspired by customer needs and behaviors.
  • Proven experience of successfully integrating customer research into a product design practice.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles.
  • Strong understanding of the strengths and limitations of different research methods.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate highly detailed research concepts in a simple and straightforward manner.
  • Excellent written skills – experience of creating reports/questionnaires/interview questions
  • Experience of conducting customer interviews
  • Effective problem-solving ability.
  • A true collaborator and good teammate with a positive and supportive approach
