As the infamous Jack Welch once said “Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.”
Well AND Digital is all about growth. We have grown from 4 people to 115 in just over two years and last year our revenue increased tenfold. We have also seen 23 progressions between skill levels. So how can we sustain this success and our remarkable culture while growing so rapidly? Investing in our leaders ensures three things:
1. We have a consistent understanding across the organisation about what our people expect from our leaders;
2. We are supporting the development of the people who will determine the future success of the business;
3. Having remarkable leaders across all aspects of the business also means that we can devolve accountability and reduce bureaucracy and hierarchy.
The challenge and the opportunity of everything we do at AND Digital is that we like to do things a little differently. So in developing our Leadership Development Programme we didn’t reach for an off-the-shelf solution, we built it all ourselves with our people at the heart of the design. Firstly we asked our people what they consider to be the qualities of remarkable leaders. We used this data to develop our own leadership model with supporting exercises backed up by proven theory from experts in this field such as Daniel Goleman, Martin Seligman, Kouzes & Posner. Our Leadership Development Programme consists of a three day workshop followed by six months of Action Learning, Community Support Sessions and detailed feedback from start to finish.
Last month we launched the programme to our first cohort and here is what they are saying so far:
